TITLE OF POSITION: Oak Bluffs Water District Operator I
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
Performs the necessary operational and maintenance duties to ensure the efficient and continuous operation of the water system. The Water District Operator I works under the general supervision of the District Foreman, Assistant Chief Operator and Superintendent. The Water District Operator I is hired by the Board of Water Commissioners and is subject to the policies established by the commission.
Responsibilities: Some typical duties of the Water District Operator I include:
- Assist Foreman, Assistant Chief Operator, Superintendent and others whenever necessary.
- Investigation of complaints, problem solving.
- Meter reading, MIU installation and other installations.
- Assist with maintenance and repairs of infrastructure, chemical and pumping equipment.
- General Maintenance of building and grounds, janitorial duties as needed.
- Snow plowing, sanding operations.
- Truck driving and equipment operation (pumps, saws, air compressors, hand tools, etc.)
- Specialized equipment operation, M.A. Backhoe Operator’s License.
- General plumbing and pipe fitting.
- On call duty rotation and emergency assignments.
- Good working knowledge of treatment equipment and minor repairs of the same.
- MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent.
- MA Distribution II certification and MA Treatment I certification or be able to attain MA. Certification in within a period directed by Board of Water Commissioners.
- Valid MA. Driver’s license, CDL.
- Hydraulic Operators License.
- 24/7 on-call
